Dave Cambie

Dave's first introduction to racing was through his father who was the Treasurer of the Hawera Trotting Club. He became a steward at the 'Hawera Trots' 1960. He progressed to a track steward, a role he held for 12 years, before returning to racing in 1990 and onto the committee of the HHRC.

A move from South Taranaki in 1997 saw him join the Taranaki Trotting Club, where he became president in 2000 and held that position until a merger with the Taranaki Racing Club in 2011, where he gained a seat on the Taranaki Racing Club board representing the Harness ward.

He purchased some yearlings in 1992 and gained a trainers licence in the same year. He still actively trains a few standardbreds, and in 2013 was awarded the Owner Trainer of the Year award.
