Course Proper. Heavy. Markers out 1m

On a still heavy track there were some respectable times this morning. Fastest of the morning went to the Sharrock pair of Art Deco and Gypsy Fair who ran 1000m, the last 600m in 37.1. Art Deco in particular should bounce back quickly into winning form.

The good staying mare Effectav was partnered by Time Bomb over 1000m, running the last 600m in 37.9. Effectav continues to progress well.

The course specialist, Call Doubt, again worked strongly over 1200m, the last 600m in 38.2. Worth following if he races this Saturday.

A Good Deal and a Burgundy from the Kelly stable worked with vigour, the last 600m in 38.1, whilst stablemate Red Rascal and Wynthorpe ran similar work, the last 600m in 38.8.

The jumpers Mendoza with Zed Case and Yardstick with Macklemore ran two rounds on the sand before 1000m on the grass, the last 600m in 38.6 and 40.9 respectively. They are all preparing for Pakuranga on Saturday.

The good stayer Pentathlon looks improved with his recent trial second at Waverley. He worked in company with Cavalry, a new entrant to the Wheeler stable, over a round, the last 600m in 39.3.

The final two to work by themselves on the course proper were Malibu Miss and Whispering who both ran 1000m, the last 600m in 40.9 and 40.1 respectively.

A few galloped 1000m on the sand which was also quite testing. Their last 600m times were
Woodbine Lad    41.0
Our Milo              40.9
Battle Kat            40.5
Lovethefeeling    40.5
Vencedora          40.9
Irish Flame          40.9

Irish Flame ran well at the Waverley trials and is ready to resume.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY next race day at Pukekura Raceway, ITM Interprovincial Challenge, Saturday 26th August.
